Being invited as guest exhibitor at ‘Woven’, gave me the opportunity to make completely new work.
I have always been a forager, picking up mineral and vegetable that I find on my travels.
During the Covid 19 lockdowns, when we went for lots of walks or bike rides on the beach and in the bush, I continued to gather, accumulating a treasure trove of bits and pieces.
The other enduring memory of lockdown was of cooking and sharing food and meals, sometimes in odd combinations.
Together with my long-term desire to make small objects came making spoons and receptacles to put them in. My spoons and necklaces use a mixture of flotsam and jetsam, jewellery materials and techniques and they are quirky and fun rather than useful.
